Israeli F-16 warplanes bomb several areas in the Gaza Strip, including an empty police station and the borderline between Gaza and Egypt.Israeli warplanes Sunday night hovered over the town of Rafah and fired at least four heavy bombs at a borderline area between Rafah and Egypt, residents reported saying that there were no injuries. One resident said that he saw dozens of families leaving their homes earlier this evening and moving to safer places in the northern area of the town.Israeli jets also struck a police station twice turning it into rubbles, but no injuries were reported as it was empty.Israel claims that it struck the police station after eight homemade rockets and mortar shells were fired from the Gaza Strip at Israeli settlements.Hamas and Israel declared ceasefire following a furious 22-day Israeli military onslaught on the Gaza Strip, where over 1,330 Palestinians were killed and more than 5,400 injured, mostly civilians.Efforts are underway to mediate a longer term truce between Israel and Hamas. A one-and-half-year ceasefire is expected to be declared on Feb. 5, latest reports claim

Israeli excavations by the al-Aqsa Mosque cause a UN-affiliated school collapse in East al-Quds injuring some 17 Palestinian schoolgirls. The al-Quds Elementary School, located close to the al-Aqsa Mosque in East al-Quds (East Jerusalem), had previously suffered structural damage as a result of Israel's excavations. Israel claims the digging is for the search of antiquities. The girls were injured as they fell into a 1.5 to 2-meter deep ditch that opened up when the school's floor collapsed on Sunday, according to a teacher at the school.Medics at the hospital, where the injured girls were taken for treatment, said most of them have sustained moderate to light injures.Eyewitnesses stated that several neighboring homes in the town of Silwan, in the Old City of al-Quds, have sustained cracks due to Israeli excavations in the area near the al-Marwani Mosque inside the al-Aqsa compound.Israeli police claim the neighborhood's houses were already fragile and cracked, but residents of the area said the cracks were new and resulted from Israeli excavations. The Union of Palestinian Intellectuals have put direct blame on the Israelis saying that continuous digging of a tunnel leading to the Western Wall, adjacent to the mosque compound, has put the entire area at risk, calling these excavations 'highly dangerous'.The UN-affiliated school's collapse is just the latest example of the danger of these excavations, the Union said.Reports also say that Israeli bulldozers carry out controversial tasks on a pathway next to the al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in the Muslim world
